About the artist My name is André Lundquist and I was born in Copenhagen in 1972. I began painting quite early and I was apprenticed to the painter Therese Dragshøj in 1986.Therese Dragshøj learned me a lot about painting, its layers, composition and colour. That has played an important part in my work. In 1996 I had my first exhibition. I entered the studio Ortokefal and along side painting I worked with graphics which I had learned during stay at Holbæk School of Arts where Peter Martesen was my teacher. In 1999 I got a scholarship from the Beckett Foundation. The scholarship consisted of a month's stay at Fundacion Valparaiso in southern Spain. This stay - as well as my other travels abroad to e.g. Italy, Austria and Sweden - has given of major inspiration to my work. In 2000 I began working at the studio Cirkeline which was one of four studios in an old carpenters workshop at Nørrebro. At Cirkeline I met a lot of new artists and that made a huge impact on my artistic work. In the following years, I became connected with several Danish and European galleries. Today I am represented by Galleri V58 i Århus, Galleri Knud Grothe in Chalottelund and Galleri Artcompaz at Frederikberg |
